SwingU is a golf GPS app with free yardages and StrackaLine green maps and plays-like yardages in its Plus subscription. GolfCore is a golf GPS with free yardages, green maps, modeled wind and a free Shot Tracer on iPhone. Which fits depends on how you want the wind handled, and whether you want to trace your own swing videos.
Both give free yardages and sell green maps and wind, and SwingU Plus is listed for less, at $59.99, with a Pro tier for strokes gained and lessons. GolfCore models the wind over the whole hole rather than adjusting one number, and traces your swing videos for free.
GolfCore publishes this comparison of its own product, with SwingU's details read from its own website on October 8, 2026.
SwingU's free app gives distances to greens and hazards, a scorecard and an Apple Watch app. SwingU Plus adds an AI caddie with plays-like yardages from live wind and elevation, and StrackaLine green maps on more than 20,000 courses. SwingU Pro adds strokes gained and video lessons.
GolfCore gives the front, center and back of the green and the distances to hazards and layups free, at every course. Premium adds green maps with contour lines and fall-line arrows, and wind modeled over the hole.
GolfCore also traces your swing videos: film a swing or pick one from Photos and it draws the ball flight on the video, free and with no limit on iPhone.
